Grant Overview
The Foundation awards a $5,000 grant to financially assist individuals with children under the age of 18 to prepare for the Oregon bar exam. The grant is named in honor of Vernellia R. Randall, who made a lasting contribution to the Foundation and plays a significant role in the efforts to give women and historically underrepresented groups greater access to the justice system.

A Mission Shaped by Community
The Foundation will give special consideration to students who are raising their children on their own, and to students with multiple children, children under the age of 6, and children with special needs. Previous receipt of a different grant from the Oregon Women Lawyers Foundation is not a barrier to application. Applicants must be in their final year of law school and intend to practice law in Oregon. The Foundation awards grants based on the following rubric: 45% The ages and number of the applicant’s children, with special consideration given to students who are raising their children on their own, and to students with multiple children, children under the age of six, and children with special needs. 20% Other aspects of financial need. 25% Personal statement. 10% Overall application, including typographical errors, spelling, grammar, and completeness.
